Martyn Davies Sound Designer

Martyn started as a sound engineer back in 1994, with the sound design of Star Trek the Lost Voyage which he designed on the back of a cigarette packet in the bar of the Churchill Theatre Bromley. Since then things have been slightly more organised.

He was resident sound engineer at the Churchill Theatre for 6 years and during that time worked on many productions, including Tap Dogs; Hot Shoe Shuffle; South Pacific; Sweet Charity; Annie; Boogie Nights; Soul Train; I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and numerous Pantomimes.

Since becoming Freelance in 2000, he has been a production sound engineer and operator on Honk; West Side Story; Annie; La Cava; World Music Stage (Breeze Festival Leeds); Harvey (International Tour); Swan Lake (Birmingham Royal Ballet); Heaven Can Wait; Literary Festival (Cheltenham); Evita; Bounce; Ragamuffin; Barnum; See You Next Tuesday; Nunsence; The Gruffalo; Footloose*; Beauty and the Beast (RSC); A Midsummer Night’s Dream; The Shaughraun and various conference, fashion and trade shows.

Sound designs include national tours of: Of Mice and Men; The Demon Headmaster; 11 Pantomimes for Qudos ; Jesus Christ Superstar; Telstar; Shoot the Crow; The Mysteries in the ruins of Coventry Cathedral and Watership Down for the Lyric in Hammersmith.
